Many people get very frustrated at having to replace ink cartridges so often. Ink toner is not cheap, and if you do a lot of printing you probably cringe every time the printer indicates that the ink is running low. But how can you save ink? Here are some tips to help you save ink toner and make those cartridges last longer.

1. Use the draft or economy mode. If you don’t need high quality prints, you can use this mode for nearly all your printing. It will save you a lot of toner.

2. Reduce your page size and print 2 pages per sheet of paper. As long you can read the text there shouldn’t be a problem using smaller sized pages. To do this just go to print preview or print menu and change the number of pages to print per sheet.

3. Use a laser printer. Some people use photo printers for high quality images, but if you really don’t need this then don’t use one. Laser printers save you a lot more ink, and therefore a lot of money.

4. Think long and hard about whether or not you really need to print a document. If you can get by with an electronic copy, or you can E-mail the letter or document to someone instead of mailing it, then simply don’t print it to begin with. The less you print out, the more toner you save in the long run.

Of course there are other things you can do to save money on your printer products. You can purchase cartridges and paper in bulk or from discount stores to save money. To save paper, print on both sides of the sheet where possible.
If you would rather not buy a printer in the first place, you can save yourself that money by paying to print your documents at a library or a printing shop.
